The Real Impact of Making GenAI A Career Deliverable

Been so busy the last few months that I actually haven’t had time to sit down and write about using GenAI in my marketing copywriting work. This is partially because work has been extremely taxing, and also because there’s been a lot going on in the background. It’s taken me a few tries to even start this entry, which just goes to show how out of practice I am.

“But you use GenAI in your work! In your daily practice even! Surely it’s not that hard to whip something up by asking ChatGPT/Claude/Whatever your favourite model is to just write something in your name?”

My answer is a derisive “hah!”

I have flirted with the idea of using GenAI to come up with a content plan that would only require me to oversee the content they produce, but ultimately the main reason why I haven’t done that is the same reason why I decided it was better to not publish anything at all - I want my words to carry both some actual value of use to people who read it, and it needs to be borne of my actual experience, or out of actual lived reality.

Ultimately it comes down to the reason why I am even writing here in the first place. I started this blog originally to document my journey exploring GenAI, and while that journey continues, it is no longer one of the biggest priorities of my life. Which is ironically hilarious, because my job requires me to use more of GenAI (yes, Generative AI, not AI in general).

Does this mean I’ll stop writing about using GenAI as a marketing copywriter? No. In fact, I think it’s even more important now to talk about the price of using GenAI. It runs the gamut from its impact on the environment to how it’s shaping our individual muscles to the effect it has on the people around us.

So, are you coming along for the ride?
